We’re taking Tyler to Vegas!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Diana @ 9:15 pm

So this is the 3rd time it has happened. Tyler puts his goldfish into a pattern or puzzle formation. It may only be 2 or 3 goldfish he does it with but it is enough to make me wonder if he is gifted or I perhaps need to worry about autism. (OK, I don’t really worry about autism, but it did cross my mind not so much the 1st time it happened, but the 2nd for sure!)

The 1st time: Tyler was sitting in the family room on the floor with his snack. Goldfish and AJ. I go into the kitchen to get something and come back and find 3 goldfish on the floor all snugged up togeather in a pattern like this (this was a goldfish reenactment):

I told my mom about it and she laughed. She said “Maybe you have a spirit in your house!” Ha ha! Neither one of us are really into all that spirit stuff.

The 2nd time: Tyler and I were @ my mom and dad’s house and Tyler was in his high chair eating again – goldfish. I was getting his lunch ready. I stepped away from the table where he was for a moment, come back and on his tray fish are like this (this was a goldfish reenactment):

Not anything crazy I know, but you could have measured and I promise you the fish would have been the exact same distance away from one another and in a completely straight line. My mom was standing in the kitchen and I said “Ha ha, very funny with the goldfish.” She said “What?” I said “Lining up Tyler’s goldfish like this.” She came over and looked on Tyler’s tray, then looked @ me and said “I didn’t do that! OK, now maybe you should ask the doctor about it!”

I did ask. She said not to worry. I don’t.

The 3rd time: Now I worry! Yesterday, Craig and I are sitting @ the table talking. Craig has Tyler on his lap and Tyler is having a snack, again – goldfish and AJ. Craig and I are just talking when I look down @ the table and there are 2 goldfish positioned like this (actual goldfish found in placed pattern):

So now, Craig thinks we can take Tyler to Vegas and he can win us millions because clearly he is good with the whole puzzle/pattern stuff and usually those people are also great with numbers and number patterns.  I think – perhaps I should bring it up to the Dr. again…….or just stop feeding him goldfish!  :-)

Diana, Diana, what do you see?

I see a little green turtle sandbox looking @ me!!!

When I got home from work Saturday, a little surprise was awaiting me on our back porch – a little green turtle sandbox for Tyler. Craig will argue it is more for me than for Tyler. I think they are the cutest things and the lid is a necessity in our condo addition as there is a stray cat some of our neighbors are feeding and many a dogs to “water it”…….or more if you will.

Grandma and Grandpa Malmloff had given Tyler money for his birthday for the sandbox because they weren’t out yet in February. I had seen one @ the store a few weeks ago but it was just Tyler and I and the box was WAY too big and I didn’t feel like tying it to the top of my car that day without the hubby’s help!  Craig’s parents had come down Friday and Saturday to see Tyler, have some ribs (it is the one thing I can make in the kitchen really really well – although don’t be too impressed – the crock-pot does most of the work), and Craig’s dad was going to help Craig spruce up our yard (technically this isn’t really our responsibility as we live in a condo and association dues pay the lawn company for this – but there are some very bare spots that yearn to be clothed in grass!).  So, I had mentioned to Craig’s parents my recent trip to the store where I saw 1 turtle sandbox sitting on the shelf looking for a good home and how I had passed it up and my reasons for doing so.

Perhaps it was the fact that Friday evening as Craig’s parents and I sat out on our back porch and watched Tyler play, Grandpa Malmloff couldn’t bear any longer to see Tyler play in the large empty planter filled only with dirt @ this point or Tyler sit beside the shrub-beds and play with and try and bury his legs with the chunk-bark, or maybe it was just because Grandpa Malmloff knows how excited I was about the turtle sandbox – but the next day he and Craig went to the store and gave a turtle sandbox a home!

We survived the Quake of 2008!

Tyler and I were up for this mornings tremors…..well, I was up and Tyler was drifting back into a blissful state of sleep. Tyler was in our bed as around 5am he just couldn’t get comfy so I scooped him up and snuggled him between Craig and I. Craig had just gotten up to shower so I was crawling over Tyler who was hogging my space and pillow to take Craig’s now vacant spot when I heard the house creek like it does when there is a big gust of wind and then the bed was shaking. First I thought “Is this an earthquake?!?!” Then I thought “Jesus is coming back today for us!” Then selfishly I thought, “Wait, I wanted to have more kids first!” then I thought “We’ll we’re all here – Craig, Tyler, and I, so @ least we get to all go togeather!” Then I thought – “Is it a tornado? No those are noisy, it’s not even windy out, what is going on?” “I wonder if Craig felt it?” “Was it just me?” “Am I having a stroke?” “No, it was probably an earthquake” “What is the name of that fault that runs through the midwest?” “It’s not the San Andreas fault, that’s in CA.” “At least I think it is” “Is it?” “I should have paid more attention in geography!” “How am I going to teach Tyler anything if I don’t even know what the faults name is?!?!” “Hummm….name of the fault…….” “I’ve got nothing…..a name…..fault…..” I worried about it for a little bit – how I’m going to teach Tyler anything that is – before I drifted off back to sleep.

Tyler wonders: What do daffodils taste like, where does the wind come from, and does my yellow fleece make me look like “State Puff”?

Tyler – our spiritual leader….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Diana @ 1:25 am

Craig, Tyler and I were all sitting @ the dinner table last night.  Tyler was in the middle of eating some fruit and Craig and I had just started eating.  We were starving so we just dug in.  So we are sitting there shoveling food into our mouths and talking about our day when we both look over @ Tyler and he is just sitting there staring @ us, quiet as can be with his little hands folded together.  We have been trying to make sure we pray before every meal with him not only because it is something as Christians we “should” do but because we are TRULY thankful for ALL that He has given and blessed us with and we want to pass this on to Tyler and it to be something that our family always does – a priority if you will.     He recently just started folding his hands when we would ask “How do you pray Tyler?” so it was so funny that he was just sitting there,  little hands folded in prayer just waiting for us to catch up – or maybe catch on!  Thanks Tyler for helping us to keep our priorities straight!

A blog?!?!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Diana @ 8:37 pm

So this is me jumping on the band wagon! I check my e-mail every day but don’t respond regularly. It’s just not something I have ever been interested in. Even when I lived 787.36 miles away from my family, I preferred to just pick up the phone, I never e-mailed. I just don’t like being “stuck” in front of the computer e-mailing, it just feels impersonal to me – even for quick questions – I like to hear a human voice on the other end. Craig asks me what my resistance to technology is – it’s not resistance – it’s merely preference. So perhaps a blog won’t work very well for me…could be, but I feel as if I should do it for 2 very important people – Tyler’s Grandma’s. That and my sister-in-law and some other moms from my MOPS group have blogs so I am feeling a little inspired. Even if I don’t write, I figure I can post video’s and pictures of Super Tyler and share our little moments with 2 of Tyler’s biggest fans – his Grandma’s.

PS: Craig’s over/under on the blog is about 1 week :-)
